Beer Packaging - Colorado Focuses On Craft Brew Lovers

Winter has finally arrived in Colorado, but it doesn't stop some craft brewing companies from "keeping on."  In fact, according to news reports, winter is the season when drinking is the activity of choice for many, when the sun sets early and the snow begins to drift.

While winter ale isn't a new idea at all, according to news reports, more breweries such as Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton are focusing on how to market to those who enjoy an adult beverage or two during the holidays - often referred to as the "boozy" part of the Christmas and New Year's holiday season.  For more than 25 years, the company has been brewing Christmas Ale. Breckenridge Brewery also offers a barrel-aged whiskey Christmas ale known as the Holidale, a brew that makes the beer festive according to Culture Czar, Todd Thibault, who says that the 10.3% ABV (alcohol by volume) found in Holidale, is what many consumers look for in an ale that offers that "warm" feeling during cold winter months.  Thibault says Holidale is without a doubt a favorite of the season, offering a flavor that leans toward toffee in the background.

Certainly the holiday season brings about more frequent gathering of family and friends, and according to Thibault good cheer often involves celebrating by enjoying a few beers.

Of course Colorado isn't the only place in the U.S. that enjoys adult beverages crafted especially for the winter months or holiday season.  While it isn't a new trend, breweries go back in time by bringing out their "best" beer over the holiday for celebrating, including Highland's Cold Mountain in Asheville, NC.  The hard part for those who enjoy celebrating the holidays with friends and family by enjoying a brew that perhaps isn't available year-round is finding those that tickle your taste buds and give you that warm, fuzzy, holiday happiness.  Some include Deschutes Jubelale, Avery Brewing Company's Old Jubilation Ale, Ninjabread Man Porter by Asheville Brewing Company, and Alpha Klaus by 3 Floyds Brewing Company.

When it comes to beer crafted especially for the winter season and holidays, what's your favorite? We’d love your comments!
