Flexible Packaging Company Bemis Acquired By Amcor

Recent news reports indicate that Bemis Company, a supplier of flexible and rigid plastic packaging products based in Neenah, WI, has been acquired by Amcor Ltd.  Amcor, based in Melbourne, Australia, made the announcement on June 11 saying the acquisition would make Bemis a direct, wholly-owned subsidiary.

The all-stock transaction deal is valued at $6.8 billion.  Bemis has 50 facilities around the world, 10 of them in Wisconsin.  The company's packaging products are used in the health care supplies, food, and consumer products industries.  Amcor manufactures free-standing pouches, shrink wrap and other packaging solutions for industries including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, consumer goods and medical products.

In 2018 Bemis and Amcor had combined revenues of $13.4 billion; this acquisition will create a global consumer packaging giant, according to reports which say Amcor now has a presence in over 40 countries with 250 locations employing 48,000 people.

Ron Delia, CEO at Amcor said on the day of the announcement, "The acquisition of Bemis brings additional scale, capabilities and footprint that will strengthen Amcor's industry leading value proposition and generate significant value for shareholders."
