Seminar To Learn About Food Safety, Traceability & More

Recently it was announced that the Center for Innovative Food Technology will host a seminar for food entrepreneurs who are interested in learning about proactive food safety efforts similar to those employed by Toledo-based White Castle, the first quick service restaurant chain to share health inspection scores with consumers via the company's website. According to news reports, those who attend the seminar, which is scheduled to be held at the Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen on February 25th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. will learn about the substantial impact food safety can have on their small to medium-sized businesses via a discussion regarding the importance of traceability of ingredients in foods, voluntary and non-voluntary recalls, and more. Food safety specialist Dennis DeLong, R.S. of the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture, will discuss these topics at the seminar, which is designed to educate food-related business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs regarding various aspects of proactive food safety. The seminar, also referred to as NOCK Seminar, will also include discussion regarding the Reportable Food Registry, established to provide business owners with a reliable mechanism to track patterns of adulteration in food. Attendees will learn about the proper method of reporting voluntary recalls, and preparing paperwork in the event of a recall. The seminar is scheduled to take place in Bowling Green, OH at 13737 Middleton Pike, and costs just $25 per individual. Traceability is essential for all industries and particularly important in the food industry given all of the recalls in recent years. Without an effective traceability solution in place, companies not only put their reputations and brands at risk, but consumers' health and safety as well. At Markem-Imaje, our position as a leader in industrial coding and marking systems is proven; our traceability solutions are effective, proven, and help ensure quick recalls, compliance, and more.
