Marking Of Ingredients - Plastic-Free, Paper Packaging For Flower & White

Flower & White, a UK-based manufacturer of confectionery gourmet meringues, bars, drops, bites and other products, recently announced its move into paper-based packaging for the company's Meringue Bites in its efforts for greater sustainability.

The company claims to be the first to move into packaging that is plastic-free for its gourmet treats currently available in America, Australia, Canada, Germany, and in outlets from Selfridges to QVC.  The packaging for the latest series of treats features a heat-sealable coating that was specially designed for the paper-based packaging.

Flower & White, operated by Brian and Leanne Crowther, was looking to reduce energy at its 13,000 sq. ft. Shropshire facility while improving sustainability.  The company also purchased LED lighting and low-energy equipment while making improvements in the supply chain and streamlining processes in a partnership with Aston University.

Leanne Crowther said they are proud to be the first company in the confectionery sector to embrace paper-based packaging in an effort to move forward and "win the war on plastic."  Crowther said this is just the beginning of the company's efforts, and that it is up to manufacturers to do something about the lasting effects of plastic.

The new Meringue Bites in paper-based packaging are available in raspberry and salted caramel flavors.  Other products include Raspberry Meringue Bars, Lemon Meringue Bars, Chocolate Meringue Bars and Meringue Drops in a variety of flavors.
