Frozen Foods - Marshfield Farm Ice Cream's New Packing Equipment

UK-based Marshfield Farm recently announced the family-run ice cream manufacturer and supplier has incorporated an Endoline Machinery 221 Fully Automatic Case Erector and other equipment in an effort to speed packing times.

Will Hawking, owner of Marshfield Farm, said the new machinery had substantially increased production efficiency.  In addition to the automated case erector, the dairy also had Endoline install conveyor systems, stainless steel packing tables and case sealer.  Prior to the new equipment, four and five-liter tubs were mostly filled and packed into outer cases manually.  Packing times have been reduced by about 80% according to news reports.

Marshfield supplies more than 30 flavors of ice cream to over 6,000 independent retailers in the UK, and is in its 30th year.  With the new automated packaging, the company now packs 30,000 liters of ice cream on a daily basis.  Hawking said in automating the packing process, delivery times have been sped up considerably and that the company will be able to expand business in the future now that they have the capability to pack 15 cases of ice cream per minute.

The ice cream company also uses a fully integrated printing solution from Markem-Imaje.  Our 9450 CIJ printer is ideal for the frozen foods and dairy industries, designed to support overall equipment efficiency efforts.  Our continuous ink jet printing solution is ideal for coding batch numbers, barcodes, ingredients, best before dates, logos and more.  For all of your industrial coding and marking solutions, depend on Markem-Imaje.
