Amcor Healthcare Packaging Manufacturing Plants Acquired By Tekni-Plex

In April of this year an announcement was made that Tekni-Plex had signed a definitive purchase agreement to buy three of Amcor's healthcare packaging plants.  Now, the Pennsylvania-based provider of specialty tubing, sealing gaskets, medical tubing, thermoformable films and other products for the pharmaceutical, medical, personal care and other industries has acquired those plants, according to recent reports.

The Amcor facilities purchased by Tekni-Plex include two in Wisconsin (Milwaukee and Madison), and one in Ashland, Massachusetts.  These plants manufacture medical grade laminates, die-cut lids and labels, coated and uncoated Tyvek, and heat- and cold-seal coated films and papers.  The Amcor facilities serve medical device OEMs and provide a wide portfolio of medical device packaging substrates that are sterilizable.

Tekni-Plex president and CEO Paul Young said in a news release that the acquisition of the three facilities "brings us 150 highly qualified and experienced employees who form the backbone of the business."  Young also said the purchase expands Tekni-Plex's "complex packaging solution portfolio for medical device manufacturers, many of whom have been supplied by our Colorite, Natvar and Dunn medical products businesses for decades."

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Amcor provides packaging solutions including flexible packaging, plastic bottles and jars, specialty cartons, capsules and closures, and more for industries including healthcare, personal care, food and beverages, pet care, and home care.
