Thermal Inkjet - Johnson & Johnson Adopts How2Recycle Label

Recently it was announced that Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., a giant in the consumer packaged goods industry, would adopt the How2Recycle on-package label for use on baby wash, baby lotion, shampoo and other baby products.  These labels provide consumers with detailed instructions on recycling of the packaging after the product has been used.

In 2008 the Sustainable Packaging Coalition created the How2Recycle label due to a need for clear, accurate and consistent recycling information for North American consumers.  The coalition says the label is the only one based in the U.S. that is uniform across all types of packaging.  Other name brands currently using the How2Recycle label include Nestle, Colgate-Palmolive, Natural Grocers, Lego Group and Walmart.

Companies can also track recyclability of all of their packaging portfolios with the How2Recycle label system, and members have a platform available that makes it possible to analyze a breakdown of their packaging portfolios and view packaging recyclability improvement recommendations.

Other companies such as Target have vowed to work toward their packaging sustainability goals by adding the How2Recycle label in the coming years.

Kelly Cramer, lead of How2Recycle at the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, said they are excited that Johnson & Johnson is joining the hundreds of brands adopting standardized recycling labeling, and that J & J is making it possible for parents to properly recycle packaging while making their lives simpler.
