Packaging News: Turning Sour Cream Packaging On Its Head

As trusted suppliers of industrial coding and marking systems for all types of substrates and packaging, we know one thing is for sure - when it comes to packaging, nothing stays the same! In many cases, that's a good thing. In recent packaging news, it was announced that Daisy Brand sour cream will now be available in stand-up pouches, making it easier for consumers who desire smaller portions. Anyone who's used sour cream in traditional containers knows much of it goes to waste - and spreading it evenly on foods such as tacos can be almost impossible. The new stand-up tube format makes for easier, drip-free dispensing in smaller portions, and includes a customized cap with a valve that eliminates dripping, and controls the flow of the sour cream. Cap design also helps keep the product fresh between uses. Additionally, because the stand-up pouch version contains 14 ounces of product, it can all easily be used without a lot of the product going to waste; a problem with cartons. A first in its category, the new stand-up tube has been a huge hit with consumers, and rated 4.7 out of 5 stars on Walmart's website. Some customers have said the product is "very smooth and not watered down,;" that the product stays fresh for a longer period of time and eliminates the mess; and that taco night has been made so much easier and neater. Perhaps other companies will follow in Daisy's footsteps? Innovation in packaging is a hot topic today, as companies strive to meet consumers' needs and demands.
