Latest Attention-Grabbing Packaging In Snackfoods

In what has been called one of the most product-differentiating snackfood category packages in years, PepsiCo's Frito-Lay Division is making a big splash with a new portable paperboard container in its Doritos Crunch Nuts and Crunch Mix packaging.

The packaging, inspired by Doritos tortilla chips iconic triangle shape, is ideal for those who snack sporadically throughout the day because of its sturdiness and the fact it can be reclosed after opening by simply tucking a corner into a slot.  Printed graphics give consumers directions on how to reclose the package for freshness, and the packaging includes a foil-based inner barrier liner.

Both the Doritos Crunch Nuts and Crunch Mix contain 3 oz. of snacks, although the Mix package is a bit taller because of the shape of some of the snacks in the mix.  Product Ventures, a product and packaging research and design company based in Fairfield, CT has been involved in the creation of many of Frito-Lay's package designs for more than 10 years, and was instrumental in developing the structure of this new, innovative packaging for Doritos snacks.

Frito-Lay North America Senior Director of Marketing Ryan Matiyow said that Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch are fan favorites, and that consumers will now have another option when it comes to enjoying these bold flavors.  The Doritos Crunch Nuts and Crunch Mix are both available in Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch flavors.
