Pet Treats From Craft Beer Grain - Brewhaus Dog Bones

In 2014 Brewhaus Dog Bones was founded by Lisa Graham, a woman who wanted to provide job opportunities for those with disabilities as a parent of a child with a disability.  Now the Ross Township, OH dog treat manufacturer is growing as a result of the support of local companies in the craft beer industry throughout the Cincinnati area.

Some of the microbreweries supporting the efforts of Brewhaus Dog Bones include Rivertown Brewing Co., Paradise Brewing Supply, Old Firehouse Brewery, Ei8ht Ball Brewing, and Mt. Carmel Brewing Co., to name a few.  The companies donate spent barley grains and product sales, allowing the company to produce its small batch, handcrafted dog treats made from whole grains and oven baked.

According to news reports, students with disabilities get the work experience and training for business they need by manufacturing dog treats. Ross School District and the New Richmond Exempted Village School District each have commercial kitchens where the nonprofit's treats are produced.  Brewhaus Dog Bones' website says the students are involved in all aspects of the business from baking, processing orders, and weighing bags to forecasting demand, calculating costs, and depositing proceeds in the bank after counting cash and credit sales.

Brewhaus Dog Bones are available at pet and party supply stores, groomers, pet day cares, animal clinics, gift and antique shops, brewers, and other retailers and service providers around Ohio and Kentucky.  Lisa Graham may have a surprise in store for cats next, according to news sources.

A very clever and innovative idea! Individuals with disabilities can get hands-on experience in the business world by making dog treats created in part from the spent grains of microbreweries!
