Coca-Cola Transforms Packaging into Virtual Reality Headset

Imagine the packaging that gets tossed out in the trash every day by consumers who purchase Coca-Cola products. Recent news reveals the soft drink giant has discovered a way to reuse cartons, and it's surprising, really. Coca-Cola has a potential idea for its packaging, and you may be surprised to learn what it is - transforming cardboard into a Google virtual reality headset. As global suppliers of industrial coding and marking systems, we always find news regarding innovative ways to recycle or reuse packaging interesting. While Coca-Cola hasn't yet taken action on bundling cardboard equipment and instructions with the products available to consumers, it is a concept the company is considering. Coca-Cola has demonstrated how the cardboard packaging could be repurposed as a VR headset in the company's video, but at the present time it's simply an idea that's being explored. It's not really something we should be surprised about, considering that Google has released instructions on its website pertaining to the construction of VR cardboard headsets. According to news reports, other companies have also developed third-party solutions that are similar. Imagine cereal boxes, drink packaging, and other cardboard packaging being repurposed for VR headsets, and the waste that could be avoided! Could VR headsets be the "cereal box toy" of the future, and will Coca-Cola go ahead with their idea? Hopefully we'll learn more about the concept in coming months. At Markem-Imaje, we're always interested in learning how brands intend to recycle and repurpose packaging, a big concern for consumers and manufacturers in efforts to reduce waste and create a better environment for future generations. For all of your industrial printing equipment needs, count on our team to deliver beyond your expectations.
