Packaging News - Lakeland Dairies Introduces 'Milk In A Stick'

Recently in packaging news, it was announced that Lakeland Dairies, an Ireland-based cooperative and Savannah-based Diamond Crystal Brands have partnered to introduce Milk in a Stick, manufactured of fully traceable, 100% milk.  According to reports the new product is an easy and straightforward choice for consumers as it contains only milk or cream.

Milk in a Stick brings a wide array of benefits to the foodservice industry as operators desire to support their hot beverage service with milk and creamer that is portion controlled and high quality.  The advantages for foodservice operators include reduced waste, minimal storage, a clean label and consumer friendly.  Consumers today are all about "clean" labels, and Milk in a Stick's ingredient statement is simple to interpret: Milk or cream.

Sticks are easy for consumers to use as they simply open and pour into hot beverages.  Because of their slender, sleek design they are also a better environmental alternative as it takes less fuel to transport and costs to distribute are reduced.

Simon Muschamp, Lakeland Dairies' Head of Marketing said in a press release that, "We listen to our valued customers and develop products that combat the challenges of offering a hot beverage service."  Muschamp also said that due to the slim line design space is saved, and consumers enjoy sticks that are not only less of a hassle than using fresh milk, but less wasteful as well.

Diamond Crystal Brands will distribute Milk in a Stick products across the U.S. for Lakeland Dairies, who supplies a wide array of dairy products to 70 countries.

Milk in a Stick has strong, flexible packaging according to the release.  At Markem-Imaje we provide a wide range of industrial coding and marking technologies to many industries including food and beverage.  Our SmartDate Series offers TTO printing for substrates including pouches, bags, vacuum packs, flow-wrappers and other flexible packaging.
