Smurfit Kappa, one of the world's leading suppliers of paper-based packaging, recently announced its GreenClip, TopClip and Nor-Grip packaging solutions for bundling bottled and canned beverages.  The corrugated alternatives to plastic are completely recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable according to reports, designed to do away with the need for single-use plastic.

The TopClip was created by Smurfit Kappa to eliminate stretch film commonly used to bundle one pack of cans, equipped with two die-cut holes for ease in handling the packs.  Cans are fully covered, the TopClip making it easier to brand and protecting cans from contamination.

While plastic rings are the most common way to bundle six-packs, the GreenClip packaging presents a corrugated alternative and makes the sale of single cans easier.

The Nor-Grip corrugated packaging was created to do away with shrink film commonly used to bundle bottles.  The Nor-Grip is designed for use in bundling items such as large packs of bottled water, large soft drink bottles, cooking oils, and more.

Smurfit Kappa's VP of innovation and development Arco Berkenbosch said, "I am very excited about these unique solutions.  All our tests have shown that in terms of convenience and sustainability they are at the top of the market."  Berkenbosch also said that according to the research the company has done, they know that 75% of consumers prefer packaging that is sustainable.
