Coding and Marking Systems - Shatto Milk Co. Powdered Beverage Tins Play Up Brand's Down-Home Appeal

Located in Kansas City, MO, Shatto Milk Co. is a family business focused on old-fashioned, down-home appeal in the powdered milk flavorizers the company manufactures.  According to Matt Shatto, VP at the company, they're also dedicated to sustainability, another reason for the charming cube-shaped metal tins the powdered products are packaged in.

Available for a limited time each year, the powdered milk flavorizers come in five flavors including Swirl (cinnamon roll), Sweetie (strawberry), Super (blueberry), Dreamy (orange cream), and Vanilly (vanilla).  No inner pouch is necessary for the shelf-stable powder, packaged in whimsical tins with a fill volume of 12 ounces. With Shatto's cow logo on color-coded lids and silhouette of a milk bottle that's also color-coded against a white background, consumers easily recognize their favorite flavors.

Shatto Milk is unique in that the company began as a dairy farm - and still is a farm.  All of the products are fresh and made entirely at the farm site, from milk and cheese to butter, ice cream and flavored milk.  Consumers know the products are the freshest available as they can enjoy them in as little as 24 hours after leaving the farm.  Shatto's offers a home-delivery service and distributes its products to grocers in Kansas and Missouri.

The silk-screened tins and friction-fit lids used for the powdered milk flavorizers are supplied by Berlin Packaging.  Packaging its milk products in glass bottles rather than plastic, Matt Shatto said that, "We try to steer away from plastics.  It's not our brand.  We look to more sustainable alternatives."

The powdered milk flavorizers are slated to come out later in 2019 and will reportedly be the first products of the company to launch nationally.
