Recently in packaging news, in August of this year, Australian packaging manufacturer Amcor acquired Neenah, Wisconsin based Bemis.  The two companies combined, and now Amcor has announced its intention to invest over $25 million to upgrade the Wisconsin facility.

In a press release, Amcor stated the investment will go toward expanding the services the company offers to customers across the food, personal care, home care, medical and pharmaceutical industries as well as the purchase of new equipment and upgrades to the facility's infrastructure.  Amcor expects the upgrades will be completed sometime next year.

Timm Goodmanson, Amcor Flexibles Madison general manager, said it is expected employment at the facility will increase by about 50% due to the expansion.  Goodmanson also said about 150 construction jobs would be brought to Madison as a result of the upgrade.
